The India Meteorological Department has issued a fresh weather update highlighting changing weather conditions across several parts of India.
According to the latest forecast, many regions may witness rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds due to active weather systems. While some areas are getting temporary relief from rising temperatures, experts say the heat is likely to increase again in the coming days.
Delhi Gets Brief Relief From Heat
Several parts of Delhi witnessed cloudy skies and light rainfall during the morning hours.
The sudden weather change brought relief from the intense heat that had affected residents over the past few days. Cooler winds and overcast conditions also made outdoor weather more comfortable, especially during the early part of the day.
However, meteorologists warned that the relief may remain temporary. Once the current weather system weakens, temperatures are expected to rise again across the national capital region.
IMD Issues Yellow Alert
The IMD has placed Delhi and nearby areas under a Yellow Alert due to the possibility of unstable weather conditions.
Officials warned that thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds may affect several regions. Wind speeds could reach around 30 to 40 kilometres per hour, which may lead to minor disruptions such as falling branches, dust storms, and traffic problems.
Authorities also advised residents to stay cautious during lightning activity and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions.
Western Disturbance Behind Weather Change
Meteorologists said the current weather activity is mainly linked to a Western Disturbance.
This weather system carries moisture into northern India and often causes rainfall, thunderstorms, and stronger winds. The interaction between the disturbance and local weather conditions has triggered sudden changes in temperature and cloud activity across multiple states.
Experts noted that such systems are common during seasonal transitions, although their intensity can sometimes create unusual weather patterns.
Safety Advisory for Citizens
Authorities have advised people to follow basic safety measures during thunderstorms and strong winds.
Residents should avoid standing near trees, electric poles, or open areas during lightning activity. Drivers have also been urged to remain careful on roads because rain and dust storms may reduce visibility.
Officials additionally recommended checking official weather updates regularly to stay informed about changing conditions.
For now, several regions across India are expected to continue witnessing unstable weather as the active weather system remains in influence.
