The accused in the Ram Mandir donation theft case has reportedly told police that he hid the stolen cash in public washrooms to avoid suspicion. Investigators said he later collected the money in small amounts and spent part of it on personal expenses.
The case surfaced after temple authorities noticed irregularities in the donation collection. A complaint was filed, following which police launched an investigation using CCTV footage, witness statements, and other evidence.
Accused Used Public Washrooms to Hide Cash
According to police, the accused claimed he chose public washrooms because they were unlikely to be searched. Instead of keeping all the money with him, he allegedly hid bundles of cash at different locations and returned later to collect them.
Investigators believe this was an attempt to avoid being caught with a large amount of cash immediately after the theft. During the investigation, police recovered a significant portion of the stolen money. Efforts are still underway to trace the remaining amount.

Investigation Revealed Key Evidence
Police said CCTV footage and other technical evidence helped identify the suspect. During questioning, the accused allegedly admitted to the crime and explained how he concealed the money after the theft.
Officials are now verifying the sequence of events and examining financial transactions linked to the accused. They are also investigating whether anyone else assisted him before or after the alleged theft.
Temple Tightens Security Measures
Following the incident, Ram Mandir authorities have strengthened security around the donation collection system. Officials said additional monitoring, stricter verification procedures, and enhanced surveillance will be introduced to reduce the risk of similar thefts in the future.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police are expected to file a detailed chargesheet after completing the recovery process, recording witness statements, and verifying all evidence.
