Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday called on opposition parties to strengthen cooperation within the INDIA alliance, saying the bloc must build on its recent parliamentary successes and jointly confront national challenges.

Addressing leaders at the INDIA bloc meeting in New Delhi, Kharge said opposition parties had demonstrated the power of collective action when they came together in Parliament to oppose what he described as “malicious” delimitation-related legislation. He urged alliance partners to carry forward the same spirit in future political battles.

The meeting brought together leaders from several opposition parties at a time when the alliance faces questions over internal differences and coordination ahead of upcoming political contests.

Kharge Highlights Opposition Coordination

In his remarks, Kharge pointed to the opposition’s united stand in Parliament as an example of what the alliance can achieve when parties work together. He said the coalition must remain focused on issues affecting citizens and continue its efforts to hold the government accountable.

The INDIA bloc unity message formed the core of Kharge’s address. He argued that opposition parties need stronger coordination to respond effectively to political, economic and social challenges facing the country.

Opposition Raises Governance Concerns

Kharge also criticized the Centre on a range of issues, including electoral processes, economic conditions and foreign policy. He alleged that democratic institutions were under pressure and called for a collective response from opposition parties.

Several leaders attending the meeting echoed the need for greater cooperation despite differences among alliance partners. Political observers say the gathering was aimed at reinforcing the coalition’s relevance after recent electoral setbacks and disagreements within the bloc.

Alliance Looks Ahead

The meeting underscored the opposition’s attempt to present a united front against the BJP. While challenges remain, alliance leaders appeared keen to project solidarity and maintain dialogue on key national issues.

For Kharge, the message was clear: the INDIA bloc unity shown during recent parliamentary battles should serve as the foundation for future cooperation. Whether the alliance can sustain that momentum will be closely watched in the months ahead.
