Teen batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi received his first India A call-up after impressive performances in domestic and franchise cricket. The BCCI on Thursday announced the squad for the upcoming one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka.

India A will face Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A in the tournament starting June 9 in Dambulla. Tilak Varma was named captain, while Riyan Parag will serve as vice-captain.

The 15-year-old has drawn attention this season with his fearless batting and rapid scoring rate. His selection is being viewed as another major step in his rise through Indian cricket.

Young talents dominate India A squad

The Vaibhav Sooryavanshi India A selection also highlighted the growing focus on young performers across formats. Priyansh Arya, Ayush Badoni and Nishant Sindhu were also included in the 15-member squad.

Wicketkeepers Prabhsimran Singh and Kumar Kushagra found places in the touring side. The pace attack includes Yash Thakur, Yudhvir Singh, Anshul Kamboj and Arshad Khan.

Series schedule and venues

The tri-series will be played from June 9 to June 21 in Dambulla. Each team will play the others twice before the final.

After the ODI tournament, India A will also play two multi-day matches against Sri Lanka A in Galle. The squad for those games will be announced later.

Sooryavanshi has already built a reputation for aggressive batting despite his young age. Several former cricketers recently backed him for future senior India selection following his performances in the IPL and youth tournaments.

The Vaibhav Sooryavanshi India A call-up is expected to give selectors a closer look at one of India’s fastest-rising cricket prospects ahead of future international assignments.
