Russia launched one of its biggest missile and drone attacks on Kyiv since the war began in 2022. Powerful explosions shook the Ukrainian capital overnight as air defence units tried to stop incoming strikes.
Ukrainian authorities described the assault as one of the longest aerial attacks in four years of war. Russian strikes damaged residential buildings, infrastructure facilities, and several districts across Kyiv.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Moscow fired hundreds of drones along with cruise and ballistic missiles during the assault. Falling debris killed several people and injured dozens in residential neighbourhoods.
