A major security scare unfolded in Mumbai on Thursday after a bomb threat email was received at Vidhan Bhavan, the complex that houses the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. The threat came while the state’s budget session was underway, prompting immediate action from security agencies.
Threat Email Triggers Emergency Response
According to officials, authorities received a threatening email claiming that explosives had been planted inside the Vidhan Bhavan complex. As soon as the message was reported, security personnel activated emergency protocols and informed Mumbai Police.
Police teams quickly reached the location, and the entire assembly complex was placed under high security alert. Entry to the building was temporarily restricted as officials began checking the premises.
Bomb Disposal Squad Conducts Search Operation
A Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) along with dog squads and forensic teams conducted a thorough search of the building. Security teams inspected offices, corridors, parking areas, and nearby surroundings to ensure there were no suspicious objects or explosive devices.
CCTV surveillance footage from inside the complex was also reviewed, and security staff carried out multiple rounds of scanning using specialized equipment.
