The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed authorities to carry out daily medical monitoring of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk. The order came as he continued his indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
The court said the life of every citizen is precious. It asked the Centre to ensure regular health check-ups and provide medical treatment whenever necessary.
The Sonam Wangchuk hunger strike has entered its latest phase amid growing concern over his health. A public interest litigation (PIL) sought urgent medical intervention, saying his condition could worsen if the fast continues.

During the hearing, the Delhi High Court emphasised that protecting life remains a priority. The court directed authorities to monitor Wangchuk’s health every day and provide treatment if doctors find it necessary.
The case will continue before the court as it examines the issues raised in the PIL. The petition seeks timely medical care while Wangchuk continues his protest.
