Reports circulating online have claimed that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in a missile strike targeting his residence in Tehran. However, Iranian authorities have not officially confirmed these claims, and independent verification remains unavailable.
The reports allege that Israeli forces used a long-range missile system known as the Blue Sparrow during the operation. According to the claims, the strike targeted a heavily protected compound on Pasteur Street in Tehran, where several senior Iranian officials had reportedly gathered for a meeting.
Reports Claim Strike Targeted Tehran Compound
According to unverified reports, the strike formed part of a coordinated Israeli military operation against senior Iranian leadership figures.
Sources claimed that several officials had assembled inside Khamenei’s compound when the missile struck the area. Soon after, videos showing smoke rising above parts of Tehran spread across social media platforms.
However, officials have not independently confirmed the authenticity of those videos.
What Is the Blue Sparrow Missile?
Reports linked the alleged strike to the Blue Sparrow missile system, which Israel originally developed for missile defence testing.
Defence analysts describe the missile as a system capable of travelling at very high altitude before rapidly descending toward its target. Because of this flight path, interception becomes more difficult for air defence systems.
The missile reportedly belongs to Israel’s Sparrow missile family, which also includes the Black Sparrow and Silver Sparrow systems.
According to defence reports, the system can travel long distances and launch from fighter aircraft such as the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle.
Intelligence Operation Reportedly Took Years
Several reports claimed Israeli intelligence agencies spent years monitoring security activity around the Tehran compound.
According to those claims, intelligence teams analysed communication systems, surveillance networks, and movement patterns linked to Iran’s leadership.
Reports also suggested that Israeli cyber units disrupted communication systems near the compound shortly before the alleged strike occurred.
However, neither Israeli nor Iranian authorities have officially confirmed these details.
Regional Tensions Continue to Rise
The reports emerged during a period of intense tensions across the Middle East.
Military analysts warn that any confirmed attack targeting Iran’s top leadership could dramatically escalate regional conflict and increase instability across the Gulf region.
Meanwhile, governments around the world continue to monitor developments closely as uncertainty surrounding the situation remains high.
