Aston Villa ended their long wait for European silverware after defeating Freiburg 3-0 in the UEFA Europa League final in Istanbul on Wednesday.
Unai Emery’s side delivered a dominant display at Beşiktaş Park. The victory gave Aston Villa their first major trophy in 30 years and first European title since 1982.
Youri Tielemans opened the scoring in the 41st minute with a volley from close range.
Emiliano Buendía doubled Villa’s lead in first-half stoppage time with a curling finish.
Morgan Rogers added the third goal in the 58th minute to seal the result.

The Aston Villa Europa League victory further strengthened Unai Emery’s reputation as one of Europe’s most successful knockout managers.
Emery has now won the Europa League five times with Sevilla, Villarreal and Aston Villa.
The Spanish coach transformed Villa from Premier League strugglers into European champions within four years.
Captain John McGinn praised the team’s journey after the final whistle. Villa players celebrated with supporters despite heavy rain in Istanbul.

Freiburg struggle against Villa pressure
Freiburg started brightly but struggled to handle Aston Villa’s attacking movement and midfield control as the match progressed.
The German side was playing its first-ever European final. However, Villa’s experience and tactical discipline proved decisive in the second half.
Tielemans controlled the midfield throughout the game, while Ollie Watkins and Rogers constantly stretched Freiburg’s defence.
Goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez also made important saves early in the match.
The Aston Villa Europa League success also secured another major milestone for Emery,
who became only the second manager to win a major European competition five times.
