Samay Raina Opens Up on Deleting His Show
Comedian Samay Raina has said he was forced to delete all episodes of his show India’s Got Latent after his editor was arrested by police during the controversy surrounding the show.
Speaking in a recent video, Raina described the experience as emotionally difficult, saying the decision to remove the content “broke” him.

What Triggered the Controversy
The issue began after a controversial remark made during the show by Ranveer Allahbadia, which sparked backlash online.
The remark led to multiple FIRs being filed against those associated with the show, including Raina. The controversy quickly escalated, drawing attention from authorities.
‘I Had to Remove the Show Overnight’
Raina said he had no intention of taking down the show initially.
“Raaton raat pura show hatana pada. Maine bahut mann se banaya tha woh show…,” he said, explaining how the decision was made under pressure.
He added that the show had a significant audience reach, claiming that it was being watched on around 4 crore unique devices every month, highlighting its popularity.
Despite its success, he said he was forced to delete all episodes suddenly, which he described as deeply upsetting.
Editor’s Arrest Forced the Decision
According to Raina, the turning point came when his video editor was arrested.
He said he received a call from Mumbai Police while he was in the United States, asking him to remove all episodes. When he refused, citing freedom of speech, his editor was taken into custody.
“I never wanted to remove it… I said I live in a democracy… then they arrested my editor,” he said.
Impact on Creators and Content
The incident has raised broader questions around creative freedom and the limits of online content.
While some argue that creators must be mindful of sensitive topics, others see the situation as an example of increasing pressure on digital platforms and comedians.
The controversy has also highlighted how quickly online content can come under legal scrutiny.
What Happens Next
It remains unclear whether India’s Got Latent will return in the future.
For now, Raina has indicated that the experience has had a lasting impact on him, both personally and professionally.
The incident continues to spark debate around freedom of expression, responsibility, and regulation in India’s growing digital content space.
