Hariram Gupta Arrested From Bhiwadi
Police arrested 81-year-old Hariram Gupta in Rajasthan’s Bhiwadi. His wife Urmila Gupta and son Mahesh were also arrested in connection with the case.
Police said the property was registered in Urmila Gupta’s name. Hariram and Mahesh were allegedly managing the building and its operations.
A Delhi court sent Hariram and Urmila to 14 days of judicial custody. Mahesh was sent to police custody for two days.
Basement Repair Work Under Investigation
Police said renovation work was underway in the basement before the building collapsed. An injured labourer also reportedly confirmed that construction activity was taking place.
Investigators are examining whether the repair work affected the building’s structure. They are also checking claims about previous action against the property.
Police are also examining the role of other PG operators and the labour contractor involved in the repair work. A labour contractor identified as Sanoj was apprehended in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj.

The building collapsed on September 6 in the Satya Niketan area of southwest Delhi. It housed a boys’ paying guest accommodation.
Twelve people were rescued from the debris. Seven of them died, according to reports.
