What appeared to be a happy love story has taken a shocking turn in Maharashtra. Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal died after falling into a deep gorge at Lohagad Fort near Lonavala on June 18. The incident was initially treated as an accident. However, police now say it was a planned murder.
The case has drawn widespread attention because of the couple’s social media posts and elaborate wedding plans. Ketan and his fiancee, Siya Goyal, got engaged in February and were set to marry in November. Their families had reportedly begun preparations for a lavish wedding celebration.
Romantic posts raise fresh questions
Weeks before Ketan’s death, Siya regularly shared pictures and videos celebrating their relationship. In one post, she wrote, “Cheers to one month since my heart found its home,” while tagging Ketan. In another, she posted a photograph of him giving her flowers and shared a light-hearted caption about his affection for her.
The Lohagad Fort murder investigation took a dramatic turn after police questioned the initial account of an accidental fall. Investigators alleged that Siya and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, had conspired to kill Ketan because she no longer wanted to go ahead with the marriage.

Police allege murder conspiracy
According to Pune Rural Police, Ketan was taken to Lohagad Fort on the pretext of celebrating Siya’s birthday. Investigators claim Chetan was already present at the location and the two allegedly pushed Ketan into the gorge. Both accused have been arrested and are in police custody.
Police also suspect there were earlier attempts to kill Ketan before June 18. Investigators are examining digital evidence, including call records and mobile phone data, to establish the sequence of events.
The Lohagad Fort murder case has left both families and local residents in shock. What once appeared to be a relationship headed towards marriage is now at the centre of a murder investigation that continues to reveal disturbing details.
