Twisha Death Case:CBI Got Five-Day Custody Of Husband, Mother-In-Law

Twisha Sharma Death Case

The Twisha Sharma death case took a significant turn on Friday after a special CBI court in Bhopal granted five-day custody of Samarth Singh and his mother, former judge Giribala Singh, to the Central Bureau of Investigation. Both accused will remain in CBI custody until June 2 as investigators continue probing the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death.

The case has drawn national attention due to the involvement of a retired judicial officer and allegations of dowry harassment. The CBI recently took over the investigation following directions from the Supreme Court and has intensified its inquiry over the past week.

Investigators are expected to question both accused together during custody. Officials believe face-to-face interrogation could help clarify contradictions and establish a clearer sequence of events leading up to Twisha Sharma’s death.

CBI seeks answers in Twisha Sharma death case

The Twisha Sharma death case has witnessed rapid developments since the CBI assumed control of the investigation.

Former district judge Giribala Singh was arrested on Thursday after the Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled her anticipatory bail. The court observed that earlier relief granted by a lower court did not sufficiently consider the seriousness of allegations and available evidence.

CBI officials questioned Giribala Singh for several hours before placing her under arrest. Investigators later produced her before the special court and sought custodial interrogation.

Samarth Singh, Twisha Sharma’s husband, was already in custody as part of the ongoing investigation. The agency argued that further interrogation was necessary to examine evidence, witness statements and the sequence of events surrounding the death.

Dowry allegations remain central to probe

Dowry-related allegations continue to form a key part of the investigation.

The CBI re-registered the original FIR after taking over the case from Bhopal Police. The agency is investigating charges linked to dowry harassment, dowry death, conspiracy and other offences.

According to the FIR, Twisha Sharma’s family alleged repeated dowry demands after her marriage. Investigators are examining financial transactions, family communications and witness testimonies as part of the inquiry.

The agency has also reportedly raised questions regarding injuries found on Twisha Sharma’s body and is seeking explanations from the accused. These aspects are expected to be examined further during custodial interrogation.

High-profile case remains under scrutiny

The case has generated widespread public attention across the country.

Twisha Sharma, a model and actor, was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal earlier this month. Her family accused her husband and mother-in-law of dowry harassment and abetment. The accused have denied wrongdoing and disputed several allegations.

The Supreme Court has closely monitored developments and previously expressed concern over competing public narratives surrounding the case. The transfer of the investigation to the CBI further increased scrutiny of the proceedings.

With both Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh now in CBI custody, investigators are expected to focus on evidence collection, witness examination and reconstruction of events. The outcome of the five-day remand period could prove crucial in determining the next phase of the Twisha Sharma death case.
