Rajasthan Royals stormed into Qualifier 2 of IPL 2026 after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 47 runs in a high-scoring Eliminator clash at New Chandigarh.
The match belonged to 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who produced one of the most explosive knocks in IPL playoff history. The youngster hammered 97 runs off just 29 deliveries and dismantled Hyderabad’s bowling attack from the start.

He reached his half-century in only 16 balls and smashed 12 sixes during the innings. The teenager also broke Chris Gayle’s long-standing record for the most sixes in a single IPL season.
Pat Cummins and the Hyderabad pace attack struggled to contain the left-hander as Rajasthan crossed 120 runs within the first eight overs. Dhruv Jurel later added a rapid half-century to push RR to a massive total of 243/8 in 20 overs.

Archer rattles Hyderabad early
Sunrisers Hyderabad never fully recovered after losing early wickets during the chase.
Jofra Archer removed key batters inside the powerplay and shifted the match firmly towards Rajasthan Royals. Hyderabad attempted a late comeback through Nitish Kumar Reddy and Salil Arora, but the required rate kept climbing rapidly.
RR eventually bowled out Hyderabad for 196 in 19.2 overs to seal a dominant victory and stay alive in the tournament.
Several former players praised Sooryavanshi after the match. Sunrisers Hyderabad assistant coach James Franklin described the teenager as a “once-in-a-lifetime talent” following the Eliminator defeat.
