Vijay Skips Kerala Swearing-In Amid Security Concerns

Vijay Kerala swearing-in

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay will not attend the swearing-in ceremony of Kerala Chief Minister-designate V. D. Satheesan on Monday, according to sources. Officials reportedly cited security and crowd management concerns behind the decision.

The Congress-led United Democratic Front is set to form the government in Kerala after returning to power following a decade in opposition.

Security Concerns Behind Decision

Sources said Vijay had earlier received an invitation for the ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram. However, there were reportedly no final plans for his visit to Kerala.

Officials feared Vijay’s presence could trigger massive crowd gatherings around the venue. His visits to Kerala in the past have drawn huge public turnout and heavy traffic congestion.

Authorities were already preparing for a high-profile event with several senior leaders and VIPs expected to attend.

Heavy Security Planned In Thiruvananthapuram

Large crowds of UDF workers and supporters gathered near the Central Stadium venue from early morning. Security agencies imposed traffic restrictions and crowd-control measures across parts of Thiruvananthapuram.

Reports said only limited VIP access would be allowed near the main stage during the ceremony. Authorities also planned strict entry rules due to security concerns surrounding political leaders attending the event.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were among the senior leaders attending the swearing-in ceremony.

Why Vijay’s Presence Drew Attention

Political observers said Vijay’s growing popularity often attracts massive public gatherings. Officials reportedly believed his presence could complicate law enforcement arrangements at an already crowded venue.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has remained in focus since taking office earlier this month. Recent reports also highlighted changes in his security arrangements after delays linked to government formation in Tamil Nadu.

Focus Shifts To Kerala Government Formation

V. D. Satheesan is expected to take oath along with members of the new cabinet in Thiruvananthapuram. The Congress leadership has projected the ceremony as a major political event after the UDF’s return to power.

For now, Vijay Kerala swearing-in discussions remain centred on security and crowd-control concerns surrounding the event.

Political attention will now shift towards cabinet formation and alliance coordination after the ceremony. The latest Vijay Kerala swearing-in developments have also highlighted the challenges of managing large political gatherings.
