The investigation into the alleged NEET examination leak intensified after the Central Bureau of Investigation arrested five people across multiple states. One accused claimed that influential individuals were being protected during the probe.
The National Testing Agency cancelled the medical entrance exam earlier this week following allegations of question paper circulation before the test. The decision affected more than 22 lakh candidates across India.
The accused made the statement while being taken for questioning. He alleged that ordinary people were facing action while “big people” were escaping scrutiny. Investigators have not officially responded to the allegation yet.
The case has triggered political reactions and student protests in several states.
Investigation Expands Across States
According to investigators, the arrested individuals include suspects from Jaipur, Gurugram and Nashik. Officials said digital devices, including mobile phones and laptops, were seized for forensic analysis.
The probe reportedly began after Rajasthan Police received information about a “guess paper” carrying questions similar to the actual examination. The investigation later moved to the CBI.
Officials are also examining alleged money transactions linked to the circulation of the paper before the examination date.

The controversy has once again raised concerns about security in national-level competitive examinations.
Students Demand Transparency
Several student organisations staged demonstrations in cities including Nagpur and Delhi. Protesters demanded accountability and stronger action against those responsible for the alleged leak.
The government has not announced the revised examination schedule yet. Officials said further decisions would depend on the ongoing investigation.
