Several districts in Himachal Pradesh received unusually heavy rainfall during the first 11 days of May.
Weather officials linked the sudden increase to repeated western disturbances across north India.
According to weather data, seven districts recorded more than 100 per cent surplus rainfall during the period.
The rainfall activity also brought thunderstorms, hailstorms and strong winds to many hill regions.
The latest Himachal rainfall surplus has significantly reduced temperatures across several districts.
Many areas remained cooler than normal because of continuous rain activity.
Western Disturbances Trigger Wet Spell
The India Meteorological Department had earlier predicted above-normal rainfall across Himachal Pradesh in May.
Officials warned that multiple western disturbances could affect the Himalayan region this month.
Fresh weather systems continued to impact the state between May 10 and May 14.
Several districts witnessed thunderstorms and moderate rainfall during this period.
The IMD also issued orange and yellow alerts for multiple hill districts.
Authorities asked tourists and residents to remain cautious during bad weather conditions.

Districts Witness Heavy Rainfall Activity
Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Shimla remained among the most affected districts.
Several places also reported lightning and hailstorm activity during the week.
Weather officials said rainfall remained well above seasonal averages in many districts.
Earlier reports also showed Himachal Pradesh recorded 179 per cent excess rainfall during a recent weather spell.
Mandi district administration issued advisories for people living near rivers and streams.
Officials warned residents about possible landslides and flash floods in vulnerable areas.
The continuing Himachal rainfall surplus has also disrupted tourism and farming activities in some regions.
Apple growers recently reported major crop losses because of unstable weather conditions.
Temperatures Fall Across Hill State
Rainfall activity caused daytime temperatures to remain below normal in several towns.
Shimla, Kullu and Bilaspur recorded cooler weather conditions compared to seasonal averages.
The IMD said more rain and thunderstorms could continue in isolated areas over the coming days.
Higher reaches may also witness light snowfall because of changing weather patterns.
Meteorologists believe the current weather trend may continue until another western disturbance weakens.
Authorities continue to monitor vulnerable regions across the hill state.
